- Shein listed at about $26.3 billion on September 1, 2026, roughly a quarter of its nearly $100 billion 2022 peak.
- Revenue growth slowed from 20.7% in 2024 to 1.1% in Q1 2026, and US revenue fell 14.3%.
- Over 90% of 2025 revenue still came from goods in China warehouses, so tariffs hit the model directly.
Shein revenue growth is slowing
What happened with the Shein IPO
Shein sold about 280 million shares at HK$48.56, below the HK$49.50 top of its range, raising HK$13.60 billion ($1.74 billion). Reuters reported the shares fell as much as 10% early on September 1, then ended nearly flat at HK$48.50, with analysts crediting stabilisation measures used for large listings. Some reports published during trading cited a bigger fall, so check the time of any number you see.
The listing ended years of trying. Shein had pursued New York and London first, and Chinese regulators cleared the Hong Kong offering in July.

Why a $100 billion brand listed at $26 billion
The filing tells the story. Revenue rose from $38.7 billion in 2024 to $41.8 billion in 2025, but growth slowed from 20.7% to 8%, and then to 1.1% in the first quarter of 2026. Net income fell 38.7% to $2.064 billion in 2025.
The first quarter showed a $99 million net loss against a $395 million profit a year earlier, though The Next Web reported $328 million of that swing was an accounting charge on preferred shares. Slowing sales are the real signal.
- Revenue 2025: $41.8B, up 8%
- Q1 2026 revenue: $9.05B, up 1.1%
- Net income 2025: $2.064B, down 38.7%
- Q1 2026 US revenue: $2.04B, down 14.3%

The tariff gap closed, and the model did not move
The US ended its de minimis exemption, which let parcels under $800 enter duty free, in May 2025. Shein's prospectus says China origin goods it ships to US customers now face tariffs of 10% to 87.5%. The EU ended its 150 euro threshold on July 1. Our de minimis guide for Amazon sellers covers what this changed.
The striking detail is from Marketplace Pulse: over 90% of 2025 net revenue still came from goods held in central warehouses in China. Shein launched a US marketplace in May 2023 as a localization move, but it filled mainly with China based sellers. Rivals moved faster. Temu went from no US local sales at the start of 2024 to 20% by mid 2024, and virtually all of Amazon's China registered sellers use FBA, so their goods already sit in the US.
What Shein is doing about it
Shein is leaning on its third party marketplace, which Marketplace Pulse estimates reached about $6 billion in US GMV, about 24% of its US total, and it bought US apparel brand Everlane in May, Reuters reported.
The risks are still open. Shein disclosed a US Federal Trade Commission consumer protection investigation, and the European Commission is examining illegal products and platform design. Find more on our ecommerce and marketplace news channel.
What this means for sellers and brands
For Amazon sellers in fashion, home and other low price categories, ultra low price rivals now carry a cost they did not carry two years ago. That does not remove them. It shifts the fight from duty free shipping to speed and local stock, as Amazon Haul and Temu's US inventory show.
The bigger lesson is concentration. Shein's slowdown followed the loss of a rule it did not control. Any brand whose margin depends on one tariff, one channel or one traffic source carries the same kind of risk at a smaller scale.
What sellers should do
Stress test your own numbers before peak season.
- Recalculate margin per SKU at current tariff rates and Amazon FBA fees
- List which SKUs depend on one sourcing country
- Keep US stock deep enough to win on delivery speed, not only price
- Watch low price rivals on your top search terms each week
- Run a free Amazon audit to find ad spend that does not pay back
Where PPC Spider helps
PPC Spider is an Amazon and marketplace agency. Through Amazon PPC management we set target ACoS from product margin after fees, and SpiderOS monitors bids, budgets, search terms and stock, so a cost change shows up in your ad targets rather than at month end.
