Can US sellers sell on Amazon Canada?

Yes. Amazon's Canadian pricing page says new subscriptions include access to Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.mx, so a US Professional account can list on Amazon.ca without opening a separate company account. Fees, categories and requirements vary by marketplace, so check each one before you assume a US approval carries over.

Canada is usually the lowest risk first step in Amazon international expansion: the language is largely shared, shipping distances are short and many US listings can be copied across with small edits.

What it costs to sell on Amazon.ca

Amazon.ca charges in Canadian dollars. The plan fee is separate from the per-item referral fee, and FBA adds fulfilment and storage costs on top.

  • Individual plan: CAD $1.49 per item sold, plus selling fees
  • Professional plan: CAD $29.99 per month, plus selling fees
  • Referral fees: a percentage of the total price including shipping and gift wrap, with most categories at a CAD $0.40 minimum
  • Common referral rates: 8% for computers and consumer electronics, 15% for home and kitchen, toys and the Everything Else category
  • Refund administration fee: the lesser of CAD $5.00 or 20% of the referral fee
  • FBA fulfilment fees start at CAD $5.92 for the first 100 g on standard items

FBA Canada fees and the 2026 surcharge

Canadian FBA storage is charged per cubic metre each month, at CAD $40 from January to September and CAD $77 from October to December for standard size items, according to Amazon's Canadian pricing page. Products priced under CAD $14 get fulfilment rates CAD $0.80 lower than standard.

Amazon told sellers there would be no increases to Canadian referral and FBA fees for 2026, but a separate 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on fulfilment fees started on April 17, 2026 for FBA in the US and Canada. Build both into your price model, and read our breakdown of Amazon FBA fees for how each charge is calculated.

Your three fulfilment options for Amazon.ca

How you get product to Canadian shoppers drives speed, Prime eligibility and cost. Most brands start with Remote Fulfillment, then move their best sellers into Canadian FBA once demand is proven.

  • FBA Canada: ship inventory into Canadian fulfilment centres; fastest delivery and Prime, but you act as importer and manage duties and tax
  • Remote Fulfillment with FBA: Amazon uses your US FBA stock to fill Amazon.ca orders; customers pay import duties and taxes as importer of record
  • Merchant fulfilled: you ship from the US or a Canadian 3PL and own delivery promises and returns

How Remote Fulfillment with FBA works

Amazon's Remote Fulfillment page lists four requirements: a Professional plan, a North America and Brazil unified account, US FBA enrolment with FBA Export enabled, and products that are FBA enabled in the US with valid Canadian offers. Restricted products and dangerous goods are not eligible.

You pay Remote Fulfillment costs and the Amazon.ca referral fee in place of US FBA fees. Amazon handles export, delivery, customer service and returns, which go back to the US. The Build International Listings option copies eligible US offers and syncs prices, which saves time but needs a margin check, because the exchange rate and duties change your real landed cost.

GST/HST and Canadian compliance

Canadian sales tax is the step most US sellers skip. Amazon says that if a seller has not given it a valid GST/HST registration number, it may collect and remit GST/HST on that seller's behalf under marketplace facilitator rules. Sellers who register their own number take on the collection and remittance themselves. A full GST/HST number is 9 digits plus RT plus 4 digits.

If you store goods in Canadian FBA warehouses you are making supplies in Canada, so talk to a cross-border tax adviser before your first shipment. Also check labelling: many consumer products sold in Canada need bilingual English and French labels, and some categories, such as cosmetics and natural health products, have their own federal rules.

Before your first Canadian sale

  • Categories open on Amazon.ca
  • GST/HST decision made
  • Bilingual labels checked
  • Landed cost in CAD modelled

How to sell on Amazon Canada step by step

This order keeps cash and risk low while you learn how Canadian shoppers respond.

  • Confirm your account can list on Amazon.ca and that your categories are open there
  • Pick 5 to 20 proven ASINs with good margins and no dangerous goods
  • Decide on GST/HST registration with an adviser
  • Enrol in Remote Fulfillment or create a Canadian FBA shipment
  • Localise titles and bullets: metric units, Canadian spelling and French where it helps
  • Launch Sponsored Products in the Canadian ad console with Canadian keyword research
  • Review margin after 30 days and move winners into Canadian FBA

Advertising and listings on Amazon.ca

Amazon.ca has its own search results and its own ad console, so US bids and keyword lists are a starting point, not a copy and paste. Search volumes are smaller, which means cost per click is often lower, but data builds slowly. Start with exact match on proven terms, add auto campaigns for discovery and set a target ACoS that reflects Canadian fees.

Listing content matters too. Reviews do not always carry across marketplaces, so a new Canadian offer can start with few ratings. Strong images and A+ content help close that gap, and our guide to Amazon listing optimization covers the basics.

Where PPC Spider helps

PPC Spider runs Amazon accounts across North American marketplaces. SpiderOS monitors bids, budgets, search terms and stock for each marketplace, and we set target ACoS from product margin after Canadian fees and duties. If you want a second opinion on whether Canada is worth it for your catalogue, start with a free Amazon audit or compare plans on our agency pricing page. Expanding further?
