How Walmart got shopper data into self-serve TV
Walmart announces deal to buy Vibe.co
Walmart completes the acquisition
Walmart Audiences go live for all Vibe users
Walmart Connect confirms the launch
What Walmart launched on Vibe
Vibe's product update says Walmart Audiences are available to all Vibe users, in new or existing campaigns. They appear under In-Market & Interests, marked "by Walmart". Existing campaigns keep running as configured, and Custom Audiences and Web Audiences work as before.
Walmart Connect called it the first major integration milestone since Walmart acquired Vibe. Walmart completed that deal on August 4, 2026, and The Wall Street Journal put the price at about $1.4 billion. Adweek reports more than 3,300 segments, built from web and in-store shopping data, while Vibe's site says 3,000 plus.
The two audience types
Each segment shows its estimated household count on Vibe before you add it, and reach updates as you add or remove segments. A household that matches at least one selected segment is included.
- Personas: life stage, lifestyle and shopping habits, such as new parents, recent movers, healthy living and upper-tier spenders, plus seasonal moments such as Valentine's Day and Winter holidays
- Category buyers: what Walmart customers buy or intend to buy, by department such as pet supplies, baby, food and beverages, electronics, automotive and crafts
Instacart, Walmart Connect, Criteo and more, planned from one budget and measured on incremental sales.
How Smart select picks segments
Vibe also added Smart select, an agent that reads your website, category, creatives, budget and schedule, then ranks segments by relevance and checks household reach against the budget and dates. Vibe's own example, a DTC skincare brand with a $25,000 budget, returned a list covering 33.2 million households.
Treat that score with care. Vibe says relevance is an estimate of fit with the inputs, not a prediction of campaign performance, and nothing goes live from Smart select on its own.
The measurement gap sellers should know
This is the part that matters most for budget decisions. Walmart Connect says advertisers measure results with Vibe's existing tools, including purchase attribution on their own sites and incrementality testing. Adweek reports Vibe buyers will not get closed-loop measurement through Walmart Connect and will keep using Vibe's tools and partners such as Northbeam, Triple Whale and Haus.
In June, Vibe said retail sales attribution would come after the deal closed, so advertisers could see whether exposed households later bought in a Walmart store or on Walmart.com. Nothing in this launch announces that. Pricing was not disclosed in the posts we read either.
So a brand selling on Walmart can buy Walmart-based targeting today, but cannot yet see from these tools whether the ad produced a Walmart sale. A brand selling through its own site has a cleaner read, because attribution runs on its own checkout.

What sellers should do
If you already run streaming TV, this is a cheap targeting test. If you do not, fix search and stock first.
- Duplicate one CTV campaign and compare category buyer segments with your broad interest segments, keeping creative, budget and dates the same
- Use a holdout or geo test, since platform dashboards will not settle whether the ad caused the sale
- If you sell on Walmart, track Walmart sales by test and control market in your own reporting, because closed-loop data is not included
- Check in-stock rates and listing content on the items you promote before any TV spend
- Test seasonal personas for Q4 only if creative is ready, and review segment overlap before reading reach numbers
- Ask your Walmart Connect contact when retail sales attribution will reach Vibe
