January 15: 2026 fee changes took effect
Amazon's Selling Partner announcement on 2026 US referral and FBA fees said the changes would take effect on January 15, 2026, unless otherwise noted. Fee updates are not a feature, but they shape the margin math behind every other decision on this list. Our Amazon fee changes 2026 guide covers the details and how to update your profit model.
February 2: Amazon Ads MCP server opened to AI agents
Amazon announced an open beta of the Amazon Ads MCP server on February 2, 2026, according to PPC Land's coverage. It uses the Model Context Protocol so AI agents can work with Amazon Ads API functions through natural-language requests, with prebuilt tools for tasks such as reporting and launching Sponsored Products campaigns. It is aimed at Amazon Ads partners with active API credentials rather than individual sellers, but it explains why so many ad tools added AI agents this year.

March: Sponsored Prompts in AI shopping conversations
Sponsored Prompts are suggested questions in Amazon's AI shopping assistant that tie back to a brand or product. Amazon's Accelerate coverage says they launched in March and that existing Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands campaigns can now appear in AI shopping conversations. Trade press reported general availability in the US with cost-per-click billing in late March. Brands do not write the prompts; Amazon generates eligible prompts from detail page content, which makes listing clarity an advertising lever too.
May 13: Rufus became Alexa for Shopping
On May 13, 2026, Amazon renamed its Rufus shopping assistant to Alexa for Shopping and brought it together with Alexa+. Amazon said at Accelerate that more than 350 million customers used Alexa for Shopping in the past 12 months and that customers who shop this way spend over 40% more per order. Features include price history, price alerts and Amazon Auto Buy, reorders from past purchases and product comparisons.
For sellers the message is the same as it was for Rufus: shoppers describe problems in everyday language, so listings must explain plainly what the product does. See our guide to optimizing listings for Rufus and Alexa for Shopping.
September 22 to 24, Accelerate: Seller Assistant becomes an agent
The headline launch at Accelerate 2026 in Seattle was a far more autonomous Seller Assistant. Amazon says it now monitors the business continuously, remembers past decisions, and lets each seller choose whether it surfaces insights, drafts actions for approval or carries out predefined tasks. Every action is logged. Amazon says sellers act on its recommendations about 90% of the time.
On September 23, Amazon also launched the Selling Partner plugin in beta for US sellers, connecting Seller Central data to Anthropic's Claude and Amazon Quick, with a free 12-month Amazon Quick Plus offer. We cover the details in our Amazon Seller Assistant AI update.
- Always-on automations, including background pricing checks
- Memory of past decisions and tests
- Seller Assistant drafts Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands campaigns
- Auto-optimization keeps bids under a seller-set maximum
- Ads Data Manager, a free tool to connect first-party customer data
Amazon's Accelerate 2026 numbers
Accelerate: Listing Protection and account health changes
Amazon announced Listing Protection for sellers in Account Health Assurance. A flagged listing can stay live while the seller resolves the issue, with clear steps and a way to challenge errors. Amazon says it reaches all Account Health Assurance sellers in the US by the end of 2026 and sellers worldwide in 2027. Amazon also said it removed 37 million reasons for sellers to contact support in the past year.
If you are not in Account Health Assurance, now is a good time to check your Amazon account health so you qualify when the program reaches you.
Accelerate: multichannel, B2B, lending and global tools
Several launches widen what Seller Central does beyond the Amazon store. Amazon says new tools let sellers manage catalog, orders and inventory across Amazon, Walmart, eBay, TikTok Shop and Shopify from Seller Central. It also announced Amazon Business Deals for volume pricing shown only to business buyers, opened its lending program to all sellers by year-end, and introduced Global From Day One, which makes international selling the default rather than an opt-in step.
- Multichannel management for Walmart, eBay, TikTok Shop and Shopify
- Amazon Business pricing via Amazon Business Deals
- Amazon Lending open to all sellers by year-end
- Global From Day One and a Sell Globally demand tool
- Amazon Supply Chain Services bundling freight to delivery
Late September, unBoxed: Amazon Ads Agent and new formats
At unBoxed 2026, covered by Amazon Ads on September 30, Amazon introduced Amazon Ads Agent, a unified buying experience combining the DSP and the Ads Console, with a conversational AI layer in expanded closed beta. It also announced Full-Funnel Campaigns, DVA+ for display, video and audio buying, Branded Conversations inside Alexa for Shopping, AI creative tools and an AMC Expert Tool that turns plain-language requests into AMC queries. Most items did not have general availability dates.
