What is Seller Fulfilled Prime?
SFP is a Prime program for merchant-fulfilled offers. You keep inventory in your own warehouse or with a 3PL, Amazon shows the Prime badge and a fast delivery promise on your listing, and you are responsible for shipping every order on time. It suits products that are expensive or awkward to store in FBA, sellers who need full control of stock, and brands that already run fast fulfilment for other channels.
If you are still choosing a fulfilment model, read our comparison of FBA vs FBM first.
Seller Fulfilled Prime requirements
Trade press coverage of Amazon's SFP rules lists these ongoing requirements:
- A Professional selling account and a US ship-from address
- Before the trial: 100 or more self-fulfilled packages in the evaluation period, cancellation rate under 2.5%, valid tracking above 95% and late shipments below 4%
- On-time delivery rate of 93.5% or higher, measured against the promised delivery date
- At least 100 SFP packages per month (added June 29, 2025)
- Valid tracking and a very low cancellation rate
- Delivery speed coverage that meets the thresholds for each size tier
- Weekend deliveries where required to keep promise coverage

Per-ZIP delivery settings
Demand forecasts, restock plans, inbound strategy and monthly reimbursement claims, so ads never run into an empty warehouse and Amazon pays back what it owes.
The 2026 speed thresholds
Amazon measures speed as the share of Prime customer page views that show a delivery date within a set number of days. From July 6, 2026, standard size items need at least 40% of views showing one-day delivery (up from 30%), 75% showing two-day delivery (up from 70%) and 90% within five days, which is unchanged.
Oversize items now need 15% one-day and 80% five-day coverage, and extra large items need 25% two-day and 60% five-day coverage. Sellers already meeting the new levels need to do nothing; everyone else needs more ship-from locations, later carrier cut-offs or weekend shipping.
How the SFP trial works
Enrolment starts with a 30-day trial in which you ship Prime orders while Amazon measures performance. Since June 29, 2025, sellers get a maximum of three trial attempts per calendar year, so do not start until your operations are ready.
- Confirm your carrier cut-off times and pick and pack capacity
- Set accurate handling times and shipping templates
- Map which ZIP codes you can reach in one and two days
- Enrol a small set of fast-moving SKUs first
- Watch on-time delivery daily during the trial
What happens if you miss SFP metrics
Amazon uses a three-strike approach. A first miss brings an email alert, a second brings a notice and a pause of your Prime listings, and a third removes you from the program. When on-time delivery drops below 90%, listings are deactivated, but since February 28, 2026 Amazon targets the listings most responsible rather than the whole account.
You can appeal within 14 calendar days of a performance notice, with a maximum of three appeals per quarter. Overturned appeals do not count toward that cap.
New per-ZIP delivery settings
Amazon said a per-ZIP delivery promise tool would launch in September 2026. It lets sellers set shipping times, weekend availability and same-day pick-up cut-offs for individual ZIP codes, and those inputs drive the delivery dates shown on Prime offers. Amazon suggests starting with the Customize Your Fulfilment tool to gather the data. Done well, this is the fastest way to raise one-day and two-day coverage without new warehouses.
Seller Fulfilled Prime vs FBA
SFP and FBA both earn the Prime badge, but the cost and risk sit in different places. With FBA, Amazon picks, packs and ships, and you pay Amazon FBA fees, storage and capacity limits. With SFP, you avoid FBA storage and fulfilment fees and keep control of stock, but you carry shipping costs, labour and the delivery promise.
Many brands run both: FBA for fast movers and SFP for bulky, slow or high-value items, or as a backup when FBA capacity limits restrict inbound stock.
SFP vs FBA vs standard FBM
| SFP | FBA | Standard FBM | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prime badge | |||
| Who ships | You or 3PL | Amazon | You or 3PL |
| Storage fees | Your warehouse | Amazon monthly | Your warehouse |
| Main risk | Speed metrics | Capacity limits | Lower conversion |
Is Seller Fulfilled Prime worth it?
SFP is worth it if you already ship fast from more than one location, have weekend coverage and sell products that are costly in FBA. It is hard to justify for a single warehouse in one region, because the one-day and two-day coverage thresholds favour sellers close to large population centres. Model your shipping cost per order against FBA fees before you apply.
Where PPC Spider helps
PPC Spider's FBA inventory management service helps brands split stock between FBA and self-fulfilled channels, and SpiderOS monitors stock levels alongside bids, budgets and search terms so ads pause before an offer loses Prime.
