What is Amazon Brand Registry?

Brand Registry connects your trademark to your Amazon account. Once approved, Amazon treats you as the brand owner, which gives you more authority over detail page content and access to tools that other sellers cannot use. Amazon describes it as free, and it works even if you do not sell in the Amazon store, because brands can still use protection tools such as Report a Violation.

For private label sellers it is close to essential. Sponsored Brands ads, A+ Content, Brand Stores and Brand Analytics all require it.

Brand Registry requirements in 2026

Amazon's requirements are short but strict, and most rejections come from a small mismatch.

  • A registered or pending trademark from a government office in a country with an Amazon store
  • A word mark, or a design mark that contains words, letters or numbers
  • The brand name on the application must match the trademark text exactly, apart from capitalization
  • Your brand name or logo permanently affixed to products or packaging, not on a sticker or tag
  • You must be the trademark owner; agents are added as users after the owner enrolls
  • Your trademark registration or application number and a list of product categories

Before you apply

  • Trademark registered or pending
  • Name matches trademark exactly
  • Logo permanently on product or box
  • Real product photos, no stickers
  • Attorney expects verification email
  • Product categories listed

Do you need a registered trademark?

Not always. A pending application can qualify, and Amazon's IP Accelerator program connects brands with vetted law firms at pre-negotiated rates so they can file and access Brand Registry while the application is still pending. Our guide to getting a trademark for Amazon Brand Registry explains filing options, costs and timelines in detail.

How to enroll, step by step

Enrollment is done online and usually takes under an hour to submit if your documents are ready.

  • Go to brandregistry.amazon.com and sign in with your Seller Central or Vendor Central login
  • Select Enroll your brand
  • Enter the brand name exactly as on the trademark and the registration or application number
  • Upload the logo for design marks and product photos showing the brand permanently on the item or packaging
  • List the product categories and, if asked, manufacturing or distribution details
  • Submit and watch for the confirmation email Amazon sends to the trademark contact
  • Track the application on the Brand Applications page

The verification step that trips sellers up

After you apply, Amazon contacts the trademark correspondent listed with the trademark office, often your attorney, to confirm the application. Amazon's guidance says this confirmation must be completed within 7 days or the application is declined and must be resubmitted. Tell your attorney to expect it before you submit.

What tools do you get?

Brand Registry unlocks three groups of tools. Each has its own access rules, so check them in Seller Central after approval.

  • Build: A+ Content, Premium A+ Content, Brand Stores, Brand Story and Manage Your Experiments
  • Promote: Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, Posts, Amazon Live and Brand Tailored Promotions
  • Analyze: Brand Analytics, Customer Loyalty Analytics and Brand Referral Bonus
  • Protect: Report a Violation, Project Zero, Transparency and the Counterfeit Crimes Unit
  • Reviews: Amazon Vine for products with fewer than 30 reviews

New seller incentives tied to Brand Registry

Amazon's Brand Registry page lists new seller incentives for brands that enroll: 10% back on the first $50,000 in branded sales, then 5% back on further branded sales through the first year up to $1,000,000, plus a credit toward Amazon Vine. Terms and eligibility apply, so confirm the current offer in Seller Central before you count on it in your launch budget.

Brand protection with Brand Registry

Brand Registry is the base layer of Amazon brand protection. It lets you report counterfeits and infringement through Report a Violation and gives you more control over listing content. Brands with a strong reporting record can then qualify for Amazon Project Zero, which allows direct removal of counterfeit offers, and can add Transparency serial codes. Amazon reports that more than 2.7 billion product units have been verified through Transparency as of May 2026.

Common reasons applications are rejected

Most rejections can be fixed and resubmitted. Check these before you apply.

  • Brand name does not match the trademark text
  • Photos show a sticker, label or edited image instead of permanent branding
  • The applicant is not the trademark owner
  • The trademark contact did not confirm in time
  • The trademark office is not one Amazon accepts
