Pinterest Q3 2026 in four numbers
What Pinterest reported
Pinterest's revenue grew 12% to $1.174 billion in the third quarter, down from 18% growth in the second quarter. Adjusted earnings were $0.46 a share against a $0.49 consensus, per MarketBeat, and adjusted EBITDA was $339 million, a 29% margin. US and Canada revenue rose 14% to $894 million. Europe was the problem: $193 million, roughly flat in dollars and up 1% in constant currency. Monthly users still grew 10% to 661 million. Shares fell about 9.1% in premarket trading on October 30, according to Investing.com.
The 3 points that went missing
Management broke down the six point slowdown from Q2 to Q3. About 3 points came from the EU de minimis change and the pullback by cross-border sellers, about 2 points from Prime Day and World Cup spending landing in Q2, and about 1 point from currency. In Europe alone the cross-border pullback was roughly an 11 point drag on year over year growth. CEO Bill Ready said the regulatory impact was greater than the company had forecast. Pinterest does not name the sellers, but the description fits low-price marketplaces that ship parcels from Asia directly to EU homes.
Instacart, Walmart Connect, Criteo and more, planned from one budget and measured on incremental sales.
Why this matters beyond Pinterest
The EU has charged a €3 duty on low-value parcels since July and adds a €2 handling fee per item from November 1, as we covered in our report on the EU €2 handling fee. Pinterest's numbers are the first hard evidence of how fast those costs change advertiser behaviour. When US tariffs and the end of US de minimis hit last year, management said many of these advertisers moved spend to Europe and Latin America. Now, in their words, there are fewer large markets to reroute to. Pinterest also said it does not expect cross-border spend to return during the holiday season, and guided Q4 revenue to $1.425 billion to $1.475 billion, 8% to 12% growth, about 5% below consensus at the midpoint.

So what for a brand's ad budget
Fewer bidders usually means cheaper inventory. Pinterest's ad impressions grew 17% while ad pricing fell 4%. For a brand that never relied on cross-border volume, that is a quarter where the same budget buys more reach on Pinterest, especially in Europe. The second effect is competitive: rivals shipping direct from outside the EU now carry duty and handling costs per item, which narrows the price gap with brands holding stock inside the EU. Pinterest also flagged softer food, beverage and alcohol spend in Q3, while health advertisers, including GLP-1 brands, grew.
Worked example with illustrative numbers
These numbers are invented to show the arithmetic. A brand spends $5,000 a month on Pinterest at a $10 CPM, buying 500,000 impressions. If its CPM follows the platform's 4% price drop to $9.60, the same $5,000 buys about 520,800 impressions, roughly 20,800 more, or 4.2%. On the competitive side, a cross-border rival selling a €20 item direct to an EU shopper now carries €3 duty plus a €2 handling fee, €5 in total, which is 25% of the price. A brand shipping from an EU warehouse avoids both.
What sellers should do in Q4
- Media buyer: compare Q4 CPMs on Pinterest and Meta with Q4 2025 by country, starting with Germany, France and Italy. Metric: CPM change by country, logged weekly.
- Media buyer: if CPMs are down, move a capped test budget into Pinterest shopping or Performance+ campaigns for giftable products. Metric: cost per new customer against your Meta baseline.
- EU marketplace lead: on Amazon.de, Amazon.fr and Amazon.it, check whether cross-border rivals have raised prices or dropped out of your top keywords since November 1. Metric: share of page one placements, and their price versus yours.
- Finance lead: if you ship to EU consumers from outside the EU, add the €3 duty and €2 handling fee per item to landed cost. Metric: contribution margin per EU order after the change.
- Amazon PPC manager: watch Sponsored Products CPCs in EU marketplaces for a similar softening and bid into it on high-margin ASINs, using our Amazon PPC management approach. Metric: CPC and ACoS week over week.
- Owner: if a cheaper auction holds into December, decide whether EU stock in an EU warehouse is worth it next year, using our Amazon Europe guide. Metric: EU unit growth after the shift.
When this does not apply
Pinterest's 4% price drop is a global average across all advertisers; your own CPM depends on audience, country and category, so measure before moving money. Brands that sell only in the US will see little of the EU effect. And if you are a cross-border seller yourself, the lesson runs the other way: your landed cost has risen and your ad math must change before you spend more.
