Reinstatement route by removal type
| Where to fix | What to send | |
|---|---|---|
| Search suppressed | Fix Your Products | Corrected listing data |
| Inactive | Manage All Inventory | Stock or price |
| Stranded | Stranded inventory tools | Relist or removal order |
| Policy deactivated | Account Health violation | Appeal and documents |
| Restricted | Request approval | Category or brand documents |
Step one: find out why the product was removed
Start in Manage All Inventory and look at the listing status. Active means the problem is elsewhere, such as search visibility. Inactive, Search suppressed, Incomplete, Stranded or a policy flag each point to a different fix.
Then check Performance, Account Health for any violation tied to the ASIN, and your notifications for emails about the listing. A policy removal always has a matching violation; a data problem usually does not.
- Inactive: out of stock, no price or closed listing
- Search suppressed: missing or non-compliant listing data
- Stranded: FBA stock with no active offer
- Policy deactivated: violation in Account Health
- Restricted: category or brand approval needed
Reinstating a search-suppressed listing
Suppression is the easiest case. Amazon shows the reason and a suggested fix in the Fix Your Products view. Typical causes are a main image with props, text or a non-white background, missing required attributes, a missing price per unit, or a title that breaks the rules.
Titles changed in 2026. Amazon introduced a 75-character title limit for most categories, with an Item Highlights field of up to 125 more characters, and from July 27, 2026 began flagging and in many cases rewriting non-compliant titles. Our title character limit guide covers the details. Edit the listing, save and allow time for the change to process.
Suppressed listings, stranded inventory, policy notifications, cases that never close. One ticket, one owner, resolved to the end, or a retainer that stops the next one early.
Reinstating inactive and stranded listings
An inactive listing needs stock, a price or a reopened listing. A stranded FBA listing has inventory in Amazon's warehouses but no active offer, often because the listing was closed, the price fell outside allowed limits or the ASIN changed. Use the stranded inventory tools in Seller Central to relist, fix the issue or create a removal order before storage fees build up. Our FBA inventory management guide explains how to keep these from piling up.
Reinstating a policy-deactivated product
Policy removals are reinstated from the violation in Account Health. Read the policy cited, fix the root cause and submit the requested documents or appeal. Amazon staff note that deleting a listing does not clear its violation, so always fix rather than delete. For the full appeal process, see our ASIN suspension guide and suspension appeal guide.
- Open the violation in Account Health
- Read the policy and the evidence requested
- Fix the listing, stock or supplier issue
- Upload documents or submit the appeal
- Monitor email and the violation status
Documents Amazon asks for
Most rejected reinstatement requests fail on documents. Send exactly what was requested, readable and complete, and make sure names and quantities match your account and the ASIN.
- Supplier invoices: verifiable supplier, matching products and quantities, recent dates
- Letters of authorization from the brand owner, where relevant
- Test reports or certificates from accredited labs for regulated products
- Safety data sheets for products with hazardous materials
- Screenshots of the corrected listing
- Retraction from a rights owner for intellectual property removals
Reinstatement document check
- Invoices from a verifiable supplier
- Quantities match units sold
- Authorization letter if reselling a brand
- Lab reports for regulated items
- Safety data sheet if hazmat
- Corrected listing screenshots
How long reinstatement takes
Data fixes such as images and attributes often process within a day or two. Document-based reinstatements take longer, and seller guides give examples of roughly three to ten business days for listing reinstatement. Complex complaint cases can take longer if Amazon asks for more information, so respond to each request quickly and completely.
Track every request in one place with the date sent, the ASIN, the documents attached and the reply. If a week passes with no response, follow up in the same thread rather than submitting again, because duplicate submissions restart the review and can split the history between teams.
Prevent repeat removals
Products that get reinstated once often get removed again because the cause was patched, not fixed. Keep a compliance folder for every ASIN with invoices, test reports and safety data sheets. Check listings after every catalog update, since Amazon or other sellers can change attributes. Read new reviews and return comments weekly for complaint keywords.
If a product is not removed but simply hard to find, read our guide to an Amazon listing not showing up for visibility fixes.
- Compliance folder per ASIN
- Weekly check of listing status and attributes
- Weekly scan of reviews and returns
- Pause ads automatically when a listing goes inactive
